Typical duties, worked through

Six everyday pumping jobs, sized the way we would size yours. They are examples run through our selector, not customer projects, and the figures are estimates for water.

Raw-water intake for a treatment works

Large flow at moderate head is split-case work. Double suction keeps the NPSH required low at the lowest wet-well level, and the top half lifts off for inspection without touching the pipework.
Duty
1,800 m³/h at 42 m
Liquid
River water, 5 to 20 °C
Series
VS split-case
Shaft power, water
≈ 246 kW · 315 kW motor
// Worked example //

Chilled-water circuit in an office building

In-line flanges drop straight into the riser and the vertical motor saves floor space. Glycol raises the power a little, so the motor is sized for it.
Duty
120 m³/h at 18 m
Liquid
Water with 25 % glycol, 6 °C
Series
VI inline
Shaft power, water
≈ 8 kW · 11 kW motor
// Worked example //

Sprinkler system for a warehouse

A fire set is tested as a set: pump, driver and controller on one baseplate. The curve must still reach the required pressure at 150 % flow.
Duty
300 m³/h at 100 m
Liquid
Clean water from a tank
Series
VF fire package
Shaft power, water
≈ 109 kW · 132 kW motor
// Worked example //

Boiler feed for a steam plant

High head at small flow: stacked stages do it on a small footprint. At 105 °C the NPSH margin is the first thing we check.
Duty
12 m³/h at 180 m
Liquid
Feedwater, 105 °C
Series
VM multistage
Shaft power, water
≈ 10 kW · 11 kW motor
// Worked example //

Drip irrigation from a canal

A back-pull-out end-suction pump keeps the wear parts easy to reach during the season, and a bronze impeller copes with the sand.
Duty
90 m³/h at 45 m
Liquid
Canal water with some sand
Series
VX end-suction
Shaft power, water
≈ 16 kW · 18.5 kW motor
// Worked example //

Solvent transfer in a chemical plant

The liquid decides the metal and the seal before the size: stainless casing, cartridge seal with a flush, and a motor rated for the site's hazardous area.
Duty
25 m³/h at 40 m
Liquid
Toluene, 40 °C
Series
VP process
Shaft power, water
≈ 4 kW · 5.5 kW motor
