About us

A pump works named after the volute

The volute is the spiral casing around the impeller that turns speed into pressure. We named the company after it, and we still cast it ourselves.

Who We Are

One works, from the pattern shop to the test loop

VOLUTA designs, casts, machines, assembles and tests centrifugal pumps for water supply, buildings, fire protection, irrigation and process plants.
Keeping every stage together means problems are found and fixed here, before a pump reaches site. It also means the person answering your question can go and look.

How we work

Four rules behind every pump

// 01 //

Sized to the duty

We trim every impeller to the duty point you send, not to the nearest catalogue size.
// 02 //

Proven on test

No pump ships without running against its curve and holding its test pressure.
// 03 //

Built to be serviced

Back-pull-out designs, standard seal dimensions and kits that contain the whole job.
// 04 //

Traceable

One casing number links every record, from the foundry heat to the test certificate.
How a pump is made

Five stages, one record

// 01 //

Cast

About three weeks from pattern to casting
// 02 //

Machine

Seal-chamber runout under 0.05 mm
// 03 //

Fabricate

Mounting pads flat to 0.2 mm per metre
// 04 //

Assemble

Rotors balanced to G6.3
// 05 //

An old trade, done carefully

Pumping stations once housed beam engines the height of a house. The machines got smaller and faster; casting, machining and proving a pump on test is still the same trade.
