Pumps for the work they have to do

Each application brings its own liquid, duty and standards. These decide the series, the metal and the seal before they decide the size.

VS · VX · 50 – 3,000 m³/h

Water supply

Raw-water intake, treatment works and distribution mains run around the clock for decades. We size for the running hours, not only the nameplate.

What we supply

VS split-case pumps for mains and intake
VX end-suction pumps for wash water and transfer
Duty / standby sets on a common baseplate

What we ask first

Duty point and the range of system curves
NPSH available at the lowest well level
Running hours a year and energy price
Whether variable speed is planned
// 02 of 06 //
VI · VX · 2 – 600 m³/h

Buildings and HVAC

Heating, chilled-water and condenser circuits need quiet pumps that fit a crowded plant room and run at part load most of the year.

What we supply

VI inline pumps for circuits
VX pumps for condenser water
Twin-head sets for duty and standby

What we ask first

Design flow and pressure drop
Glycol content and temperature
Space and access in the plant room
Control: constant or differential pressure
// 03 of 06 //
VF · 30 – 1,500 m³/h

Fire protection

A fire pump may run once a year in anger and once a week on test. It has to start every time, so the set is tested as a set.

What we supply

Electric-drive VF sets
Diesel-drive VF sets with fuel tank
Jockey pump and controller on the same base

What we ask first

The rules your insurer or authority names
Rated flow, and pressure at 150 % flow
Water source: tank, main or open water
Space and ventilation for a diesel driver
// 04 of 06 //
VP · −40 to +200 °C

Process and chemical

Acids, solvents and hot oils decide the metal and the seal before they decide the size. We start with the liquid's datasheet.

What we supply

VP pumps in stainless and duplex
Cartridge seals with support systems
Heating jackets for liquids that set

What we ask first

Liquid, concentration and temperature
Solids content and viscosity
Vapour pressure at pumping temperature
Site standards for seals and motors
Molten cast iron poured into a green-sand mould at a foundry
// 05 of 06 //
VX · VS · 10 – 2,000 m³/h

Irrigation

Seasonal duty, long pipelines and water straight from a canal or borehole. Easy access to wear parts beats the last point of efficiency.

What we supply

VX pumps on skids for pivots and drip systems
VS pumps for scheme-scale lifts
Bronze impellers for sandy water

What we ask first

Source and suction lift
Sand content of the water
Hours per season
Power: grid, generator or solar
// 06 of 06 //
VM · heads to 300 m

Boiler feed and boosting

High head at modest flow, often with hot water close to its boiling point. Multistage pumps do this in little floor space.

What we supply

VM pumps for boiler feed
VM booster sets for tall buildings
Pumps for reverse-osmosis feed

What we ask first

Feed temperature and deaerator pressure
Minimum flow the boiler controls allow
NPSH available at the pump
Pressure the stages must hold
