A practical way to evaluate the everyday rhythm of a place before you commit to it.

Start with a normal weekday, not a weekend visit. A street at eleven on a Saturday tells you very little about the school run, the delivery traffic or the evening noise. If you can, walk it twice: once in the morning and once after dark.
Notice the route to groceries, the pharmacy and the nearest place you would actually want to sit with a coffee. Count how many of your weekly errands could be done on foot. A neighbourhood is a collection of small daily experiences, and the best fit is the one that supports your own routines rather than someone else's idea of convenience.
Then look at the things that will not change: the width of the road, the direction the house faces, the presence or absence of trees, the distance to the main road. Shops open and close; orientation and shade are permanent.
Finally, talk to someone who lives there. Ask what they would change. The honest answer is usually more useful than any listing description.
